Unique Art Jewelry Inspired By The Met Collection.
Two Monumental Altar Candlesticks (Ca. 1620–40) Serve As The Inspiration Behind These Artful Drop Earrings. The Candlesticks Were Possibly Crafted In The Italian City Of Naples, Where Many Goldsmiths And Metalworkers Produced Magnificent Pieces For Churches, Monasteries, And Convents. The Decorative Scrolls And Curls Are Reminiscent Of Neapolitan Baroque Metalwork Forged Between 1620 And 1640, When These Candlesticks Are Believed To Have Been Made. It’S Possible That They Were Commissioned By Spanish Viceroys Stationed In Italy For A Church Or Palace Back Home.
